A MAP WITH THE GREAT ROUTE DAY TO DAY

We just have met a fantastic tool that allows us to know through Google Maps and Google Earth the day to day of the route of Magellan and Elcano.

It is a map that includes the daily positions of the expedition using markers. Clicking on each of the markers, a window opens and you can read the original texts of the Derrotero (name he put to the book he wrote) of Francisco Albo, the bosun of the ship Trinidad. Albo wrote almost every day the position of the ships and he also wrote texts about the trip based on what he saw and lived on board. He was one of the 18 men who managed to complete the great trip on board the Victoria. Thanks to that he left us his Derrotero, a great treasure to know the details of that adventure. There are also included some texts by Antonio Pigafetta, chronicler of the expedition who wrote many descriptions about the route in his diary.

The website where you can check the map has been created by Tomás Mazón Serrano, a passionate about history that gives us with its interesting website the possibility of reliving that great feat. In addition, you can also consult a lot of interesting data and documents so that we can know the details of the great expedition. Thanks Tomás and congratulations for this wonderful web!
