“ELCANO” SELECTED AT CARTOON MOVIE 2018

“Elcano, The First Voyage Around the World” is one of the movies selected to participate in Cartoon Movie 2018, the European co-production forum for animated feature films that will be held from 7 to 9 March in Bordeaux. The purpose of this initiative, which now has a 20-year history, is to strengthen the production and distribution of European animation films. The film Elcano goes with the objective of presenting itself to the European market and of achieving the widest possible distribution through Filmax International. In order to cover better the international market, the title of the film will add the name of the Portuguese explorer, captain of the expedition, and will be introduced internationally under the title “Elcano and Magellan, The First Voyage Around the World”.

In total there will be 60 animation film projects that will meet in this year’s edition, although not all are in the same production stage. Some are on the concept stage, others on development and those that are more advanced, on production stage. Elcano and Magellan, The First Voyage Around the World, is already in the production stage and therefore is part of the section “projects in production”.
The projects will be presented to around 850 industry professionals from 22 countries, including potential co-producers and investors, distributors, exhibitors, video-on-demand platforms across Europe and television channels such as Canal +, Discovery Kids, France 3 Cinema and RTL.

Elcano and Magellan, The First Voyage Around the World, directed by Ángel Alonso and produced by Dibulitoon Studio, will travel to Bordeaux with a 5-minute animated video with the film’s final quality. The 3D animated film will be released in 2019 in Spain, coinciding with the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the first voyage around the world, and will have a final length of 80 minutes.
